Habagat Outdoor Equipment is once again inviting everyone to join the Earth Hour Night Ride. The event will happen tonight, March 25, when the world will commemorate Earth Hour 2017.
Habagat has been supporting The Earth Hour Movement for years in response to its commitment to being a “Corporation with a Conscience”. The first Earth Hour Night Ride it organized here in Cagayan de Oro City was back in 2009, an event that saw thousands of bikers ride their bike in the hopes of highlighting the importance of the campaign on climate change awareness. Every year, around 2,000 bikers get on their bikes and ride around the city as a way of encouraging the public to reduce carbon footprint and aim for cleaner air – two of the most important aspects of climate change and sustainable living.
Earth Hour 2017
For this year’s Earth Hour Night Ride, which happens tonight, March 25, Habagat is gathering bikers in 13 locations: Cebu, Bukidnon, Manila, Davao, Gingoog, Ozamis, Dumaguete, Jaro (Iloilo), Zamboanga, Ormoc, Leyte, Palompon, and Cagayan de Oro. The ride will happen simultaneously in these places.
In CDO, the 2017 Night Ride will be at the Capt. Vicente Roa entrance of Ayala Centrio Mall. Activities are set to begin at 8pm. Aside from bikers, longboard and skateboard riders are also encouraged to participate in the event. Likewise, there will be a Night Walk for those who prefer to go around the streets of CDO on foot. You can view the Night Ride/Longboard/Skateboard route here, while the Night Walk route is found on this page.
Before the ride starts, live entertainment will be provided by local artists like Dodu Abrio & The Viajeros, Dhassig Band, and Kagay Band.
Registration for the 2017 Earth Hour Night Ride is FREE. Be at the venue by 6pm to sign up. Participants have the option of buying an Earth Hour Night Ride 2017 jersey, which is priced at Php550. The first 1000 to register will get a free hotdog from Virginia.
