First Ever Balay Mindanaw Awards Held in CDO

On its 20th Year Celebration, Balay Mindanaw conducted the Balay Mindanaw Awards and has given recognition to barangays from different parts of Mindanao. This event was held last May 27, 2016 at the Event Center of Centrio Ayala Mall, Cagayan de Oro City.

Each of the 20 finalist barangays was invited to the Dayon Kamo sa Barangay Exhibit where they displayed their distinct products and presentations. These barangays were selected based on outstanding community initiatives, resiliency projects, land rights advocacy and peace dialogues being exercised.

Each of these barangays received a unique trophy handcrafted by renowned son of Mindanao, a sculptor, environmentalist, photojournalist, and filmmaker – Antonio “Jojo” Sescon Jr.. This trophy represents the Balay Mindanaw’s vision for Mindanao as bearer of peace and hope.
